Self-assessment Network Impact Program – SNIP

Considering the characteristics and goals of the currently in-development European Digital Strategy, the SNIP Project aims to develop a self-assessment programme for stakeholders to assess users’ vulnerabilities by design and by default in compliance with the newly enacted Regulations approved as part of the EU Digital strategy, with a particular focus on obligations arising from the recently approved Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act.
SNIP is conducted by two units University of Bari “Aldo Moro” (Antonio Davola, PI) and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Caterina Sganga and Denise Amram) handling the different challenges and activities that the project entails.

Guidelines for SMEs and Users

The continous interactions with relevant stakeholders and the increasing attention to protect users in the digital environment allowed us to develop policies and recommendations that have been translated into guildelines both for economic operators, especially SMEs, and consumers, currently under validation.

(Co.Ri.N.N.A.)

A smart interface to drive a self-assessment under the DSA obligations has been also made available in open access.

The tool -developed through the SNIP participatory approach – is tailored to address SMEs needs of compliance. It does not provide legal advice, but it is meant as a useful automated checklist based on the declared characteristics of the user. Any outcome is suitable to be validated, observing the principle of human-in-the-loop.
